Session Title : IEEE Day
Session Type : Ignite Session
Session Description : IEEE Day is an annual event that celebrates the
anniversary of the first time in history when engineers
worldwide gathered to share their technical ideas. Every
year, volunteers from IEEE organizational units
(including IEEE Sections, Branches, Affinity Groups and
Chapters) in all ten IEEE Regions plan and hold events
in celebration of IEEE Day. The IEEE Day Ignite Session
will cover the following: IEEE Day events (what they are
and how to report them), photo and video contests,
special membership offers and getting involved.
Attendees will leave the session with an understanding
of what IEEE Day is, how to plan an event, what
resources (including people/volunteers) are available
and where to go to get more information.

Session Title : Engaging students through contests and activities
Session Type : Breakout Session
Session Description : There are a variety of ways for Student Members to
get involved with IEEE through contests and
activities, but how can we encourage them to
participate? Student Branches are the gateway to the
global IEEE community and these activities are a great
way to encourage students to engage with IEEE. Join
IEEE Students for a session on how to connect students
to the IEEE community through contests and activities
like the IEEEXtreme Programming Competition.

Session Title : Mentoring: An Essential Benefit for IEEE Members
Session Type : Breakout Session
Session Description : Mentoring is a valuable IEEE membership benefit, but
creating, executing, and maintaining a mentoring
program requires significant volunteer time and
resources. Therefore, only a few IEEE OUs have been
able to provide a high-quality mentoring program. The
IEEE YP team piloted a new initiative where the YP
Mentoring Program provided structured support
(https://cmte.ieee.org/micromentoring)
to address this gap. The YP Mentoring Program serves
any IEEE OU of interest, provides tailored program
design, consultancy, and volunteer support, and serves
as a central hub for mentoring. Having the largest
technical community is a “strength” to have an
excellent mentoring program, but having a globally
scattered community with different perceptions towards
mentoring is a “challenge.” IEEE Young Professionals
have set their targets on overcoming this challenge
through the YP Mentoring Program and establishing a
solid framework through which Mentoring can become a
regularly available global member benefit.

Session Title : Move
Session Type : Ignite Session
Session Description : IEEE MOVE volunteers respond to the hardest hit
disaster areas to quickly provide the power and
communications to the people impacted by a disaster.
When not responding to disasters, MOVE provides public
outreach and STEM education at schools, universities,
IEEE events and public events. The MOVE truck is
toured by over 50,000 people annually. MOVE is staffed
by a network of hundreds of volunteers who cross-train
with the Red Cross and other first responder teams to
provide technology services at disasters. MOVE
volunteers operate, maintain, and enhance the
technology and trucks of the program. For additional
information, visit move.ieeeusa.org.

Session Type : Breakout Session
Session Description : IEEE CLE (Center of Leadership Excellence) is a
one-stop training platform which trains
existing/upcoming volunteers to understand the
opportunities, role description and responsibilities
through the brief training courses before occupying
any role in IEEE. VoLT (Volunteer Leadership Training)
is one of its own kind to enhance and support the
volunteers to build a strong community to build future
leaders. This presentation will provide you with an
idea to navigate your volunteers in the right
direction. Also gets familiar with the training
resources available with IEEE. This presentation will
project the region-wise statistics and their active

Session Title : Engaging With Industry Professionals
Session Type : Breakout Session
Session Description : Industry professional engagement is a way to promote
professional development activities that facilitates
knowledge sharing. The main objective of industry
professional engagement is to help cultivate the
future generation engineers through mentoring,
coaching and meaningful and engaging STEM outreach
programs that advance the engineering profession and
the state of art. Industry professional engagement
requires an effective strategy to promote the value of
IEEE that inspires collaboration with corporate and
that aspires individual commitment. Thus, an engaged
industry with a corporate culture that enables
professional growth will further aspire individual
professional commitment and engagement. The strategy
to engage industry professionals is bottom-up. It is a
grass root effort from the sections level, and it
starts with awareness, implementations of various STEM
programs and professional development program that
provide enabling values for engagement of the local
industries professionals.
